I don’t know about you, dear readers, but this first full week of 2010 was amazingly busy. Part of that was getting back into the schedule groove after the holiday break. I thrive on having a routine and have more motivation on a regular schedule than when the days just seem to blend and everyone is moving at a slower speed. Yes, I am a driver and like to get things done and checked off my list. One of the items on my list for the week was to write here. As I pondered what to write about and the words wouldn’t come or I didn’t have some profound piece to write on marketing I began procrastinating.

Then the week got busy with clients meetings, family obligations and volunteer efforts. Time passed….and passed.

Well, here I sit this morning reminded of something written by Mike Litman, www.mikelitman.com, who I’ve followed for almost a decade.

His point has always been – Just get started. You don’t have to be perfect. Perfection doesn’t always come and we get held back thinking we cannot get started until we have the perfect plan, or the perfect outline, or the perfect idea for a blog post. 🙂

This one nugget of information I carry with me often. Like Nike says, “Just do it.” Like Mike Litman says, “Just get started.”

I’ve advised others on the proper etiquette of blogging which includes frequest posting and not ignoring your blog because you feel you don’t have something to say or you’re too busy. Yet this week I fell into that trap. Do as I say, not as I do?

So my advice to you today is to remember in times when you’re “stuck” that sometimes the best way to get “unstuck” is to do something. It doesn’t have to be perfect it just has to get started.

Ok, back to my scheduled first weekend of 2010! Enjoy the weekend!
