Give a Day, Get a Night -The Season of Giving Continues

Christmas is almost here. There are just a few days to go before all of the homemade and purchased gifts that sit so neatly under the tree and took hours to make, choose and wrap will be opened in a millisecond with wrapping paper and boxes strewn across the living room floor. Not your most environmentally friendly of holidays but the smiles and tears of joy are priceless. The rest of the day will go on: we’ll eat, drink and be merry. Then Saturday will come and we’ll start preparing for New Year’s Eve. Then comes realization that a new year – 2010 – is upon us and some self reflection for 2009 may set in.

I don’t know about you but I am looking forward to putting 2009 behind me and starting 2010 with huge smile on my face as I look to the future.

For those of you who know me, you know I care deeply about my community and am involved with many organizations where I share my limited spare time. I do this because I love it and find a great sense of satisfaction from helping make people’s lives a little better, in my own way (read: I have more time to give than money).

With the new year upon us, I want you to consider giving 1 day to the organization of your choice. If you can give 1 day in the next couple of months, Sage Hotels will give you a treat – a discount or free hotel night stay in exchange for a letter that you gave of your time.

I think this is a great marketing campaign. Sage is a boutique chain and most people probably wouldn’t have the opportunity or think to experience their hotels. This offer helps communities and organizations who need a hand while attempting to bring customers into their doors (i.e. rooms).

This is super marketing savvy on their part. What I think will also happen is that once someone gives a day to any organization they may decide to give another and another because of the heartfelt joy received on both sides, creating a win-win situation.

And if you just give 1 day – you’ll still have made a positive difference and that is what matters most.
