Time for a Reset?

Hey folks! It has been a little while since I’ve had the chance to write a post. The last few weeks have been project filled, kid filled and life filled pulling me in multiple directions that I love. What I want to write about today is the idea of “The Reset.”

This isn’t a new idea for me but I took the lead to write about it from our pastor who is doing a series on Resetting your Faith for the next few weeks.

Usually, every October and January I do a personal reset. Double check the strategy and shift as needed. I start my personal year in October with an evaluation of where I want to go for the next birth year and in January I set a theme for the calendar year.

A reset can look like different things for different people. It make be the need to reset around your eating or drinking habits, it may be the need to reset and look for efficiencies in your business. It may be both.

I’ve decided that this week, since it is Sunday, I am going to start small and do a reset for the week by working to get back on track with my weekly maps. I wrote about them here http://vanessaduplessie.com/2010/05/how-to-create-your-weekly-map/

Sometimes life diverts us for good reason. Then we need to reset.  Where can you do a reset in your life or business?

Here are some thoughts if you’re wondering where to begin.

1. Clean up/reorganize your office

2. Clean up/reorganize the garage

3. Take a look at your marketing plan and adjust accordingly (leave me a comment
if you want ideas)

4. Take a look at your operational plan and adjust accordingly (leave me a
comment if you want ideas)

5. Do you need a break? Take a vacation or even a day away to recharge.

6. Open a new email account to get rid of the spam in the 10 year old account.

7. Clean out your closet and make a donation to your local shelter or Goodwill.

Ok, you get the idea. Please leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts on resetting in your life.

I love hearing from you!

Have a great week.

    Hi VaNessa
They reckon that airplanes despite all the available maps and sophisticated technology are off course 80-90% of the time and that pilots are making small corrections all the time in the course of a flight. So I think that the practise of resetting is something you may need to do every day or at least weekly. Perhaps even more radical but nonetheless necessary is to reinvent yourself so that you can stay relevant, effective and significant. I am still in the process of doing that now. I feel like a wide eyed kid again. warm regards, Paul

      Hi Paul,
I agree that we constantly need to adjust – just like when we’re driving. Keeping our hands on the wheel helps us go forward versus veering off to the side.
Yet, sometimes we get lazy and drive with one hand while focusing on the french fries we’re eating or singing to the radio. Small steps to reset are great and agree daily, weekly or project based as long as you’re willing to look at where you need a reset and then take action – then you’re on you’re way. Thank you for the great perspective.
