Frank Kern sharing on a very strong willed woman

Its early on a Saturday morning. I got my coffee and hit the couch with my laptop to spend an hour or so reading and learning before the kids get up. This is my MO most mornings. I do my best retention of new learnings when I first get up. For those who follow me regularly, now my getting up at 4am during the week might make sense. Since it was the weekend I slept in until 530am.

Anyway, as I was surfing around I came across a great older blog post by someone I truly respect, though have never met — YET! Mr. Frank Kern.

Frank Kern is kind of a GodFather/Grandfather in the “Internet Marketing” space. This week he released his State of the Internet address which has been watched by thousands of people I’m sure. Need less to say it is brilliant and you can find it here: STATE OF THE INTERNET 2012. I watched it yesterday and all I can say is WOW!

Where was I? Oh, right, back to while I was surfing. I came across an older (2010) blog post of Frank’s that I wanted to share with you because it is a story of motivation and inspiration and it has a huge dose of reality about what it means to be an entrepreneur.

It’s a really quick read and I think it will be a nice reminder for your day that you can make it through any challenge in your life. I don’t want to give it away so I’ll just post the link 🙂

    Hey VaNessa,

Thanks for sharing Frank’s older post. I loved it and I love how Frank is so honest. What a wonderful story about Ms. Walker and what a true inspiration.

The horrible thing about a lot of people though is they have to hit bottom before they will actually start doing what it takes. They whine and moan about I can’t do this or I can’t do that but as soon as they are about to lose their home they suddenly are able to just say to hell with it and hit the ground running. I hate that a lot of people have to get to that point but at least if that’s what it takes then so be it.

Wonderful share and I really enjoyed reading it. He definitely knows just how to tell us like it is.

    Have a wonderful weekend VaNessa.

    Hi VaNessa,

What an amazing read! I’ve never met Frank either, but he has this knack of cutting through all the BS and hitting you with the truth — right between the eyes!

My favorite quote from Frank’s post?
A first-time home run is about as rare as an honest politician.

    How honest is that!

    Thanks for sharing!

    VaNessa,

Ah I love Frank Kern’s material – he has this gift of serving it up with some kick!

I think it’s great that you’re starting out your AMs with a dose of good juju for the day. I find that really helps me calibrate myself for success too. 🙂 I’m feeling that this is going to be a real great year for us all!

I loved the story about Madam Walker, too! Boy is that one to go back and read again. It’s bookmarked, thanks so much for that inspiring story!

    Have a GREAT week, VaNessa!

Thanks for stopping by Cat. I do love your “juju” word. Good juju definitely helps keeps us going. I think I’m going to have to use that word this year. I LIKE it! Frank Kern is always inspiring to me. Glad you liked it. V-

    Hey Vanessa,

One thing is for sure. Nobody writes a copy as he does.
I read his “book” last year. (it wasn’t really a book it was an essay with a big ass question mark on the cover) I couldn’t put it down. I don’t even believe that you can learn to write like that.
    Great share!

I read the same book on the way to a marketing conference. I loved it! He made so much sense. He’s truly one of the best. Thanks for sharing. V-
