While driving my kids to school today, I was thinking about blog topics and what I wanted to write about this week.
Then it hit me. One of the questions I get asked A LOT is “What do I write about on my Blog?” or “I have NO Idea what to write a blog post about”.
Well, I’m going to tell you its really NOT that hard to come up with topics.
Here’s a quick list of my favorite 10 things to write about at any given time.
1) Grab a video from YouTube, write a few sentences about what struck you most favorable. Voila post, and you done.
2) Link to an article in a magazine or another blog post that is related to a topic you enjoy. (This can be business or personal, depending on where you place it on your blog)
3) Grab a book and find a favorite quotation and talk about that quotation.
4) Find a favorite APP – write a review and link to the app
5) Try a new recipe and link to it after writing how it turned out for you.
6) Take a favorite Quote, and write a post about what it means to you
7) Write about something that happened to you that was funny or quirky to let people get to know you
8) Find a cool song audio and write a post about the song and its impact or why you think its cool
9) If you have been blogging for a while, resurrect and OLD post and share a few words about why it is still relevant
10) If you have other content of your own, link to that and let folks know why it makes sense for them to view.
These are 10 QUICK and EASY blog posts to write about. Most are going to be under 300 words.
These posts are NOT necessarily SEO friendly, but they get you in the habit of writing. When I teach blogging, I teach to get into the HABIT or writing and not to worry so much about the “formality”. AND they get your viewers in the habit of coming back to view your content. The more you write, the more people will look and continue coming back.
Leave a comment and let me know if you have any other QUICK AND EASY ideas for blog posts. I’m always on the lookout for cool things to write about. Please share as you never know when the message you share helps some else.
Good solid writing tips. I also like saving other peoples blog posts that I have enjoyed and gotten good insight from. If I believe I can add to them and produce some aspect of them, I’ll do that as well. Maybe we’ll see this one again somewhere… thanks for the post. Great one!
Those are all great ideas and ones I use often. I also found that you can type into Google ‘Blog Prompts’ or ‘Writing Prompts’ to find websites that will help by giving you a topic or a question to answer. 🙂
Thanks for the tips. As someone who writes, I know what it feels like to run out of topics to write about. Ironically, the simplest things in life are the most interesting topic that you can write about because almost everyone can relate to it.
